A whiff of a nice scent can instantly bring you comfort and happiness—imagine your mom's lasagna or your favorite cinnamon candle—while unpleasant ones (like the smell of gasoline or spoiled food) quickly warn you of danger. But what if your sniffer isn't quite up to snuff?A change in your sense of smell doesn't simply mean missing out; it might actually signal a health problem. There are several ways this sense might go awry: Some people smell something that isn't present (phantosmia), and others realize that a scent they used to enjoy is no longer appealing (parosmia). But it's most common to find that your sense of smell has diminished (hyposmia) or to lose it completely (anosmia).Any of these issues—assuming they're not fleeting, like when you have a cold—are worth mentioning to your doctor. "Problems with smell are associated with many disorders and often show up very early in the disease progression," says Donald A. Wilson, PhD, deputy director of the … [Read more...] about 5 Things Your Sense Of Smell Says About Your Health
When a man begins to go bald, two things go down the drain—his hair and his confidence. Some 62 percent of balding guys in a Spanish study said losing their locks could deflate their self-esteem. This isn’t 21st-century superficiality: “Thick hair has always been associated with youth and masculinity,” says Albert Mannes, Ph.D., a University of Pennsylvania researcher who’s studied perceptions of balding. “Hair loss signals aging.”But baldness can be deceiving: Two-thirds of men face hair loss by age 35, and a bad genetic hand is often to blame. Male-pattern baldness is an inherited sensitivity to dihydrotestosterone (DHT, a by-product of testosterone), which leads to finer hair, a receding hairline, and finally a deserted scalp.Related: 5 Ways to Naturally Increase Your TestosteroneThat’s why scientists—who may be thinning up top themselves—have put balding in their crosshairs. John Kevin Hines had been pacing on the Golden Gate Bridge for 40 minutes in anguish, crying. If one person asks me what's wrong, I won't go through with this, he thought, over and over.Eventually, a woman wearing giant sunglasses approached him. "Would you take my picture?" she asked. The 19-year-old accepted the camera from her and clicked it five times. Then he snapped. The moment Hines released his hold on the 4-foot-high railing, he regained his grip on reality. During the 4 seconds between jump and splashdown, he could think clearly. All the problems that had made him want to die moments earlier? Those seemed less overwhelming than a 220-foot plunge into San Francisco Bay.Oh, my God, I don't want to die, he thought. What have I done? God, please, save me.It's a prayer seldom answered. Since the bridge opened in 1937, someone has jumped from it every 2 weeks on average. Out of roughly 2,000 attempts, only 28 "failed."The psychologist Edwin S. Shneidman, Ph.D., a pioneer in … [Read more...] about Into Dark Waters
(Natural News) Welcome to the United States of GMOs and toxic symptom-cover-up medicine. Over the past few decades, leaders in Washington D.C. have kept American consumers in the dark about the truth regarding toxins in our food and medicine, all while denying us some of our most fundamental rights. However, thanks to leading journalists and seekers of truth, much of this corruption has been exposed. Jane Goodall, Ph.D. DBE and UN Messenger of Peace, wrote an amazing foreword for a revealing, chilling, and meticulously researched book published in 2015 about the auspicious and ominous beginning of genetically modified food in America. The book called Altered Genes, Twisted Truth starts with Jane Goodall explaining to the world how horrified she felt when she learned that scientists had “succeeded in reconfiguring the genetics of plants and animals.” She learned of the atrocity in the 1990s (even though it all started in the 1980s) and she termed it all as “a … [Read more...] about Insidious leaders: How the last five U.S. Presidents royally screwed up American food and medicine
There was a time when the only news about coffee and health was how it was bad for the heart, likely to give us ulcers and aggravate our nerves, but now it seems this popular beverage is receiving a more favorable kind of press. However, the researchers uncovering the good news are all saying the same thing: while there appear to be some health perks from drinking coffee, there are also a few cautions, and the evidence is not solid enough to actively encourage people to go out and drink coffee. Another reason to reserve some caution, is that although the evidence is shifting toward a more favorable view of coffee's effect on health, it is not based on cause and effect but on links for which there could be other explanations: it could be that regular coffee drinkers have something else in common, that studies have yet to discover, to account for the effect on health. In this article we look at the shift in the research view on coffee consumption, touching on some of the … [Read more...] about Drinking Coffee: More Good Than Harm?
In a Washington Post article of December 12, 2001 about Donald Rumsfeld, there was a one liner that was so incredibly relevant. That sentence was: “He could be swilling Diet Coke with the secure knowledge that if not for his turnaround of Big Pharma giant G.D.Searle & Co. and successful touting of the sweetener aspartame, the beverage would not be possible”. If Donald Rumsfeld had never been born think of how many millions of people the world over would not suffer headaches and dizziness. Thousands blind from the free methyl alcohol in aspartame would have sight, and there would be much fewer cases of optic neuritis and macular degeneration. Millions suffering seizures would live normal lives and wouldn’t be taking anti-seizure medication that won’t work because aspartame interacts with drugs and vaccines. Think of the runner, Flo Jo, who drank Diet Coke and died of a grand mal seizure. She, no doubt, would still be alive. Brain fog and memory loss, … [Read more...] about Avoiding aspartame WILL save your health and your life!
There should be deep concern and appall at the alarmingly poor state of health of the American people. American medical doctors have utterly failed the American people, their trusting patients aka customers. Were doctors to become true healers instead of hookers for the pharmaceutical industry, maybe then would the American people have a true shot at regaining their health. Millions of Americans are dying unnecessarily. They are the brutalized and agonized victims of indiscriminate manslaughter, crucified by the premeditated malpractice of a totally misinformed and misguided American medical community. To add insult to injury, this disgraceful and dishonorable malpractice on living human beings is motivated by only money and sheer stupidity, avarice and ruinous medical application. Most medical doctors should have their licenses revoked at once. This should be done to stop immediately the grossly offensive, shocking and disgraceful malpractice of guesstimation, diagnosing and the … [Read more...] about Physicians: Quackery at its finest.
The following is my testimony at a hearing at our Capitol in Honolulu to ban Aspartame. TESTIMONY IN SUPPORT OF HB2680: TO BAN THE USE OF ASPARTAME For Hearing in Room #16, 1:15 P. M. MONDAY, 02/25/08 PLEASE COPY AS COMMITTEE HANDOUT FOR THIS HEARING TO: CHAIR DAVID IGE; VICE CHAIR CAROL FUKUNAGA; MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE No doubt you will be lobbied by companies like Ajinomoto, Coca Cola, Pepsi and others to not ban Asparatme. You must not lose sight of the fact that their sole motivation for you to not ban Aspartame is money and profits and most definitely not the health of the people. We, the people of Hawaii, can only hope and pray that you will focus on our health and not corporate profits. Aspartame is marketed as a “diet aid”. The reality is that Aspartame causes the brain to stop producing serotonin, which results in feeling as though you haven’t had enough to eat even when you are full. 75% of ALL recorded complaints received by the FDA were concerning … [Read more...] about Aspartame: In God we trust. There is an important question that begs an answer: is modern medicine the best approach to wellness? Unfortunately, the unexamined assumption has been yes, but the truth is “not really”. In some instances of emergency and specific conditions like trauma, fast-growing tumors, and acute heart attacks and strokes, medicine is able to intervene in the disease process, mend broken bones, and stabilize people with heart attacks, etc. In our conscious or unconscious need as human beings to be “taken care of”, we have submitted ourselves to modern medicine. In doing so we must also accept the dark side of medicine. This trade-off may explain why we seem to be so quick to ignore the mounting evidence that medicine is the number one killer in America. An aging population wants nothing more than to know how to create a longer and healthier life span and turns to medicine for the answers. However, medicine, purported to base itself on science, has not entered the … [Read more...] about Mainstream Medicine: A crime against humanity
